All staff must act honestly, responsibly, and ethically in all dealings. This includes:

  • Accurately and truthfully processing and submitting medical billing claims.
  • Avoiding conflicts of interest and declaring any that arise.
  • Reporting any unethical or illegal conduct immediately.
  • Complying with all Medi Elves policies and applicable laws.
  1. Confidentiality and Privacy

Medi Elves handles sensitive health and personal information under strict confidentiality obligations. Employees must:

  • Protect the privacy of all clients and patients in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988, Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and HRIP Act.
  • Only access, use, or disclose personal information when authorized and for legitimate business purposes.
  • Securely handle, store, and dispose of all confidential information.
  • Immediately report any suspected breaches of privacy or data security.
  1. Compliance with Laws and Regulations

All personnel must comply with relevant Australian legislation and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to:

  • Health Insurance Act 1973 and Medicare billing rules.
  • Privacy Act 1988 and APPs.
  • Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW) or other state-specific health privacy laws.
  • Australian Consumer Law (ACL) regarding fair and transparent business practices.
  • Security of Electronic Transactions Act 2000 (SETA) for secure electronic dealings.
  • Any applicable international regulations such as HIPAA, where relevant.

  • All billing data, client records, and communication must be documented correctly and timely.
  • Any errors or discrepancies should be reported and rectified promptly.
